2009 News Updates Team USA brings home two SILVER medals from the A huge congratulations to the Medium Dog Team (Karen Holik & Sizzle, Jenn Crank & Blaster, Ashley Deacon & Luka) for placing 2nd overall in the Team event. And a BIG congratulations to Marcus Topps and Juice for winning silver in the Individual competition at this year's Agility World Championships. This is the second year in a row that Marcus & Juice have been on the podium in the Individual competition.
Also, congratulations to Katie Conn and Twix for placing 5th overall in the Small Dog Individual Competition, This was Katie and Twix's first year on the team. Way to go!
Sad News The 2009 AKC/USA World Agility Team has suffered a great loss this week. Geri Hernandez's Focus (aka Focus Pocus) suddenly passed away on Wednesday morning. Focus, a young, bright star, has been taken from the agility community far too soon and, more importantly, from his best friend and loving companion, Geri. Our thoughts and prayers are with Geri during this difficult time. TEAM USA NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT! Please click on the link below to 2009 News Updates **2009 AKC/USA AGILITY WORLD TEAM ANNOUNCED** The following teams will represent the American Kennel Club in Dornbirn, Austria, at the 2009 FCI Agility World Championship held on September 18-20, 2009: 14” Jump Height: SMALL TEAM 18” Jump Height: MEDIUM TEAM 26” Jump Height: LARGE TEAM Coach, Nancy Gyes; Assistant Coach, Kathie Leggett; Team Manager, Toni Osojnicki and Team Captain, Andy Hartman look forward to working with the teams and preparing for the competition ahead. On May 2 and 3, the 2009 AKC World Team Tryouts were held in Hopkins, Minnesota. What an exciting event to watch with lots of terrific runs! The courses were challenging and the following six dog/handler teams showed they had what it took to become part of Team Austria. Congratulations to each and every one of them!

A huge congratulations to Marcus Topps and Juice and Marcy Mantell and Wave for winning gold in the Individual competition at this year's Agility World Championships. Team USA will begin their voyage to Helsinki, Finland on both Friday, September 19th, and Saturday, September 20th. The team will be practicing at an indoor facility on Monday and Tuesday (9/22 & 9/23), and then the official team practice held at the competition site on Thursday (9/25). Competition begins on Friday, September 26th and runs through Sunday, September 28th.
